Our Story

Matchstick Boutique is part of the Very Serious Co. collective of creative brands. Our sister companies include Friday Sock Co., Weekday Candles , Little May Papery, Plantsie and Made by a Potato. Owned and operated by a wonderful, dedicated team of humans in sunny Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

We're a group of creatives, small business advocates, dreamers and doers that have a passion and curiosity for thoughtfully made, high quality goods. We are so grateful to our incredible customers and all of the stockists partners that we work with - without you we wouldn't be able to do what we love. Which, if you haven't guessed by now, is continuing to innovate and introduce sweet new products to the world. Our mission is to bring people joy, and we've found that the best way to do that, in a way that truly speaks to us, is through offering gifting products.

Through Matchstick Boutique, we offer high quality, non-toxic, sulphur free, coloured safety matches made of Aspen wood. All our wooden matches are Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified. Strike paper is out of view on the bottom of the jar.  Our manufacturing partners are members of the Business Social Compliance Initiative which ensures the products are socially and ecologically responsible.

Our team designs all labels in-house and prints locally to support fellow small businesses in our area - something that is very important to us. Each jar is also labeled by hand and inspected for quality before being packed with care.
